In Defense of Food

Why do people choose to eat products that are unhealthy for them?

Because its easier/cheaper to get a hold of, and it's what most people are now used to eating.

What roles/responsibilities does the gov't have in framing your traces?
-Product management?
-Education?

I, personally, believe that should try and regulate the amount of chemicals put into our food, but I doubt they will, even if they could.

  1. Would you agree that we also choose the food because of the whole "nutrition obsession" the author spoke about?

And I agree that we should try to regulate chemicals, because the industrialization of food has taken a toll on people.

  2. Hey Matt, I would agree with your opinions but Lupton is right, but i think also that we are veered away from eating organic/non-organic food mainly because we are frightened of the prices of food because of the economic breakdowns were going through.

I think another question to look at is if the reason why we pick unhealthy habits is because we are frightened by the prices put on organic and non-organic foods...

Also, the chemical regulation is a good point, we keep modifying our foods genetically where we lose some of its nutritional value which sucks reason why is though we plant some nutrients in the food we lose some which are major highlights for what our body needs. I agree ten fold on the chemical regulation.
